1. Parallel 1.2.0
Parallel is provided by Hoa Bui under the Buddy Apps name. Version 1.2.0 is an on-device video camera app for iPhone and iPad. It does not use accounts, ads, analytics, online AI services or media uploads. This policy describes the camera app; the legacy sections below apply only to earlier AI-service use.
The Buddy Apps website, support email, iOS services and destinations you choose to share to operate separately from the camera app. Contact hoa.buiduy@gmail.com with privacy questions.
2. Camera, microphone and local processing
Parallel uses your selected camera to record portrait and landscape videos in Dual mode, or front and rear cameras together in 2 Cameras on supported devices. Microphone audio is recorded only when enabled. Optional front-camera background removal runs locally using Apple Vision; camera frames and masks are not sent to us or an AI provider.
The app stores recordings, thumbnails, capture metadata and preferences locally. It does not send camera content, usage events or device identifiers to a Parallel server.
3. Permissions you control
Camera access is requested when opening a usable camera. Microphone access is requested when starting an audio-enabled recording. Photos add-only access is requested when you choose Save to Photos. Sharing uses the iOS share sheet.
You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Denying camera access prevents recording; denying microphone access limits audio recording; denying Photos access prevents saving there. You can review existing local media without granting a new recording permission.
4. Storage, deletion and previous media
Recordings remain in the app’s local Gallery until you delete them or remove the app. New capture files are excluded from device backup. Parallel does not provide cloud media storage or cross-device synchronization; export anything you want to keep.
Existing photos and databases from earlier versions are preserved. Gallery and Preview provide controls for supported saved media; deleting a selected video from a Dual pair applies to that file. Clearing temporary files keeps saved captures and previous photos.
Copies saved to Photos or shared elsewhere are independent and must be deleted separately. Device backup, iCloud Photos and recipients’ storage are controlled by iOS and the services you choose.
5. Support and privacy requests
If you email support, we receive the address, message and attachments you choose to send and use them to respond. Do not include private media unless it is necessary for your request. For access, correction or deletion requests concerning information you previously supplied, contact hoa.buiduy@gmail.com.
We may update this policy as the app changes and will update the date above. Mandatory privacy rights under applicable law remain unaffected.
Earlier versions: AI-service information
The sections below concern only the earlier online AI-photo experience. Updating to 1.2.0 does not itself delete records previously held by that service or its providers. The camera app makes no new AI requests and does not upload your recordings. Contact support for earlier service-data requests.
Earlier versions: Photos and AI processing
When you request a photograph, another moment or an edit, the selected image and instructions are sent to our server and OpenAI for image generation and safety checks. For an edit, the current result is sent as the image to refine. Input and output images may be checked for prohibited content.
The app prepares and compresses selected photos and removes embedded metadata before upload; the server normalizes the image again. Source images are processed temporarily in server memory and are not saved in our result-storage bucket. A prepared reference photo is kept on your device so you can continue the same life.
Face-detection guidance runs on the device to help with photo selection; it is not used to identify who you are. We use a digest of the uploaded file to check that a continued life uses the same reference bytes, not to perform biometric identification.
OpenAI has its own retention rules. Its API documentation describes default abuse-monitoring retention of up to 30 days, with legal and safety exceptions. Our deletion controls do not guarantee immediate removal from provider logs. See OpenAI's data controls for details.

OpenAI processes images and instructions for generation and moderation. Supabase provides anonymous authentication, database records and private result storage. Hosting infrastructure runs our API and delivers this website. These services may process information outside your country under their applicable terms and safeguards.
Sharing is optional. A shared card can contain your generated photograph, life choice and moment details. The Try this life link contains the scenario, not your source photo, private result URL or account identifier. Recipient apps and people control their copies; their policies apply. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse or threats to safety.
Earlier versions: Storage, retention and deletion
Generated images and scenario/moment content on our server expire after 30 days and are removed by scheduled cleanup; physical removal may take additional time after expiry. Failed-job content and orphaned results are eligible for cleanup after one day. These periods do not control OpenAI's retention or copies on your device.
My Lives keeps history and reference images locally. Older local result photos may be cleared when the image cache exceeds 250 MB. References may remain while used by a saved life or pending request. Deleting a life removes its local moments and requests deletion of its server results; an unneeded reference is removed when no other saved or pending work uses it. A failed network deletion may need to be retried. Copies saved to Photos or shared elsewhere must be deleted separately.
Minimal anonymous-account, installation, request-replay and any existing transaction/refund records can remain after image deletion for service integrity, abuse prevention or legal obligations. Removing the app alone does not send a server deletion request. Contact support to request deletion or access beyond the controls in My Lives; we may need information to verify ownership of an anonymous installation.
